I see from the sources that the current version in FreeBSD is (an adapted form
of) 3ware/AMCC's driver sources version 3.60.03.006, which is the latest on
their website.

I see that brueffer@ committed about 8 weeks ago an update to the twa(4)
manual page in 6.2-STABLE that lists the 9650SE-* as supported.
