Why not add xfce4 prefix to package name then?

  x11/xfce4-verve-plugin/Makefile:PKGNAMEPREFIX=  xfce4-
  x11/xfce4-verve-plugin/Makefile:DISTNAME=       ${PKGNAMEPREFIX}${PORTNAME}-${PORTVERSION}

  $ fgrep -h PORTNAME= */xfc*/Makefile | fgrep -v xfce
  PORTNAME=       notification-daemon
  PORTNAME=       tumbler
  PORTNAME=       verve-plugin
