No, I load mine from there.  It's not necessary to have "device ahci"
in your kernel config file since the module will be generated and
installed by default.

This is what I have
makeoptions     MODULES_OVERRIDE="ahci linux linprocfs msdosfs pseudofs"
....
#device         ahci

so it's obvious that I'm using only the module.
