Domain list per TLD

Hey all,

Thought I'd throw this out, here, as I bet someone knows the answer. :-)

I'm involved in a research project where one component of the research
will involve drawing some conclusions about (at least) the second-level
DNS namespace. So, what we'd need is a (way to obtain a) current list of
active domain names, probably on a per-TLD basis.

Is anyone aware of a way I can obtain such a thing? I haven't tried, but
I don't imagine the TLD masters would honour zone transfers... :-)
