[Mind] money paid for luck
I lost money on my way home. Two NT$100 bills must have slipped from my pocket
along the way, and I was not aware of the loss until I reached into the pocket
for the keys. After my efforts to retrace my steps to find the money proved
futile, I accepted mom's comforting thought that went like "the money lost is
the money paid for luck".
A garrulous guy complained that he saw two men sharing a kiss on his way home,
and described the whole scene in a disgusted tone that nevertheless betrayed
his excitement. I knew I wouldn't get paid for the conversation, so I gave no
response at all. Despite my lukewarm reaction, he continued his derogatory
speech on "the promotion of heterosexuality and the elimination of
homosexuality", until he realized that I was not being an attentive audience.
He finally walked away to seek another victim after his feeble attempt to
interest me, but the glib homophobe's gibberish just ruined an otherwise
pristine afternoon.
