Re: [Talk] English improving
The key to improving English is definitely practicing it!
I always ask my classmates who want to improve their English, "If you guys
were teaching me Taiwanese, how would you tell me to practice so that my
Taiwanese would get better?" And their response is always, "Hmm, I guess
you're right. I would tell you to just keep speaking it."
Mistakes are inevitable if you're learning a new language. But that's exactly
how you learn and improve. You figure out what the mistake is and then hope
not to make the same mistake the next time around. If you never know what
your weaknesses are, how will you ever improve?
Keep at it!
I tell my friends and students I tutor to watch American TV shows or movies
WITHOUT the Chinese subtitles if possible. That'll help with listening and
pronunciation. If you can sound out a word that you are not sure of, then
your grasp of the pronounciation has improved.
Hope this helps!
