Mike老師敢講連國中生都知道 return to home 是標準錯誤寫法卻被當成標準答案
return 是「不及物動詞」其後不接「受詞」必須接「介係詞片語」是基本觀念
如 I returned to Taipei. 而不是 I returned Taipei. (如下圖)
但別忘了 home 是「副詞」不是「名詞」之前不能接「介係詞」
如 I went home early yesterday. 而不是 I went to home early yesterday.
因此「回家」是 return home 而不是 return to home
Longman 英英字典特別強調 home 當「副詞」時前面千萬不能接「介係詞」
還舉例 He returned home. 不能寫成 He returned to home. (如下圖)
結果居然被大學學測閱卷召集人當成標準答案簡直是滑天下之大稽 (另類台灣奇蹟)
此外「返回家鄉」的「家鄉」是 hometown 不是 home (如下圖)
不知道為什麼閱卷召集人會講「如返回家鄉可寫『return to home』」
由於 hometown 是「可數名詞」不是「副詞」
因此「返回家鄉」應該是 return to someone's hometown
