[請益] 本句a little ways 是什麼意思?

在一篇文章看到 Then, when I thought she was going to ask me how the accident happened, she said, "Can I have your cherry pie?" I was not that hungry, so I let her have it. I watched the stream of people going down Broadway Avenue, and thought about John's house, only a little ways uptown from where we were.
