[單字] comprise
大家好:
最近在看compose, consist及comprise的用法,
前兩個字的用法是大概懂了 但唯獨comprise的用法還是霧煞煞
比如經常看到這個例句:
Water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen= Water consists of hydrogen
and oxygen.
想請問Water comprises Oxygen and Hydrogen.這句是對的嗎?
google後發現很少人這樣用, 也有網站挑明這樣用是錯的,
但我還是不知道原因
我也有去字典查comprise的用法, http://ppt.cc/hkTq
總覺得1和2的用法好像,1應該是翻成包含 2是翻成組成跟構成吧
但不知道這兩個用法的區別
另外下面的word choice解釋
"Do not say that something 'comprises of' certain things, even though you
might hear English speakers say this. Most careful users consider this to be
incorrect so you should avoid using it."
是什麼意思呢?
