Unless it is your job, in which you have to attain
proficiency in translation quickly, you are probably
better served by reading (and writing) more.
If you really wanted to see translation in action,
consider reading news sources such as Reuters and
consult the local newspaper for the Chinese version
of the issue - these will not be a sentence-by-sentence
work but it is easier to get a picture out of these
news stories and usually the Chinese proficiency would
not a problem on the translated side (compared with those
poorly translated dual-language magazines)
The major issue with we chinese people doing translation
is getting the interpretation correct - and this takes
a lot of reading.
