Well it's actually 512 articles from the looks of things... the oldest I can see in dragonfly.kernel is: Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2003 01:21:29 +0800 Xref: crater_reader.dragonflybsd.org dragonfly.kernel:1325 It looks as if older articles have been lost to the sands of time for the news server (or perhaps just its clients). Certainly this is configurable on the news server. The bottom of www/Main/forums.cgi points out "We will be providing a web-based archival access feature soon for those people who just want to browse the lists who do not have a USENET newsreader handy." To enable this the news server needs to be set to stop expiring articles(!) and someone needs to setup News-Portal or an equivalent piece of software. These changes shouldn't be too involved. Personally, I'd like to avoid the indirection of having jump from my newsreader to a web archive when reading older articles, if at all possible. It seems silly to do. Let me know if I can help in this effort. -- William A. Carrel
