burncd is ATA-specific and over the years it has been less and
less able to burn CDs on newer CDR/CDR+W players, particularly
USB and SATA-connected recorders. while cdrecord has been kept more
up-to-date. Each suffers its own set of issues but cdrecord tends to
be the better-maintained package.
