That handbook page is seriously outdated. It refers to the old
ntpd.
# cat /etc/ntpd.conf
servers us.pool.ntp.org
and ntpd_enabled="YES" in /etc/rc.conf.
That should be all. I guess he doesn't like the driftfile option, check
your syslog for error messages.
