We acknowledge and accept that children don't always understand the concepts o
f sharing and good sportsmanship and fairness. They just haven't learned yet,
right? We don't always extend that benefit of the doubt, though, to adults. We
assume that they should understand those things by now, and when they behave
counter to those philosophies we judge them as being bad or ignorant or uncari
ng. That's not always the case though, Cancer. Sometimes there are reasons tha
t stem from past experiences in childhood or even beyond. If you give someone
the benefit of the doubt today, you may actually be able to help that person g
row and change.
