Re: [請益] 國中文法 比較級
我整理一些資料,你可以自行看上下文比對看看。一般對於 "the" 的定位就是指定,在比
較中, "the other N" 就是 「同一團體中做比較」,而 "other N" 就是

Beijing to limit the numbers of cars on its streets. (BBC)

[2] Yet, despite this, there are fewer international students than other cities
in the UK- which means your whole experience will be more English than it
can be in many other cities.

[3] The new report, published in the Aug. 8 issue of the Journal of the
American Medical Association, analyzed the public-health measures taken by
43 U.S. cities, all with populations greater than 100,000, during the six
months between Sept. 1918 and Feb. 1919. Markel found that cities that
early on adopted "old-fashioned," non-pharmaceutical interventions - such
as school closures, social-distancing in the community and workplace and
quarantine - and "layered" multiple interventions at once for a long
period of time fared better than other cities, with slower rates
of infection and lower rates of death. (Time)

[5] The scientists sampled about a teaspoon of water from the sewers - because
that's eventually where what people consume ends up - of 10 American cities
and tested them for 15 different drugs.
The results, which they presented the Amercan Chemical Society meeting in
Boston on Tuesday, are not all that surprising in the end. Here are a few
gems: Most Americans are not too wild and crazy, and their drug of choice
is caffeine. People in the midwest are a little more conservative and
don't seem to indulge too much in meth use. One city with a heavy gambling
industry - Las vegas, anyone? - shows meth levels five times higher than
other cities. (Nature)

[6] Other hot spots were hit harder, making New York America's No. 1
destination for the first time since 1990, the mayor said. For nearly two
decades, that title was held by either Las Vegas or Orlando.
"We have made our city cleaner, safer and more exciting than ever,"
Bloomberg said at a news conference at a Brooklyn restaurant. "I do think
we'll continue to see even more tourists on our streets as the economy
improves, and I think that we'll continue to fare better than
other cities." (Washington Post)

[8] Ron Burke, a director with the Union of Concerned Scientists, which helped
shape the plan, said it was "more robust and quantitative than those in
any other city."
Like hundreds of other cities, Chicago has pledged by 2020 to reduce the
emissions of heat-trapping gases 25 percent from the levels in 1990, the
baseline established by the Kyoto Protocol, an international climate
treaty. Mr. Burke said the Chicago plan offered much more specific ways
than other cities' plans to measure and cut the emissions. (NY Times)
