今年建中樂旗隊22屆前往加拿大的卡加立參加一年一度的牛仔節活動，成果斐然。

建中樂旗隊 揚名加拿大 張瀛之/台北報導
帶著活力的樂聲、展現力與美的旗舞，台北市立建國中學第二十二屆樂旗隊學生
在台北時間昨日凌晨獲得加拿大亞伯達省卡加里牛仔節 100周年慶祝活動，在遊行及
定點表演項目中，在 174個參賽隊伍中分別獲得樂隊第四名、旗隊第三名及綜合第一
名的成績。
建中學生一獲獎，僑界的台灣同鄉會就立即電洽台灣的建中學生家長「報喜」。
建中一行62名學生及家長、教練等71人於六日赴加參與牛仔節活動，除了銅管、
木管樂器之外還有打擊樂器，其中有 6名旗隊學生，其餘均為樂隊學生。
這次建中學生赴加拿大比賽，抵達加拿大時台灣同鄉會甚至是大陸僑胞都前往接
機，能在牛仔節比賽的 174個隊伍中脫穎而出，更讓僑界振奮、與有榮焉。
家長表示，為了這次的比賽，學生們由一年級下學期入隊至參加比賽，至少練習
了一年，平時一周至少要練 3天，五月前後決定出國，六月起即開始天天集訓，還特
別設計隊形；為了參賽，放假後學生們甚至每天由上午8時練到晚上9時，不斷練習的
結果皮膚黑了，有的學生還曬傷、被樂器壓得腰酸背痛，帶著傷出國比賽還能得到前
幾名的榮譽，讓家長既心疼又驕傲。
家長指出，建中樂旗隊每年都會參加嘉義管樂節、台南管樂節及台北音樂季等各
類不同活動，每年也都有至少 3次的成果發表會，擅長室內演奏，室外的活動式或定
點表演也都有一定水準；這次能藉由表現自己最喜愛的音樂與旗舞走出國際，可說是
成功的「國民外交」成果。

建中樂旗隊揚威卡加利 勇奪金牌大獎
【溫哥華訊】來自台北的建國高級中學樂旗隊日前揚威卡加利牛仔節
（Calgary Stampede），在樂旗隊表演項目勇奪金牌大獎，並獲得當地
主流媒體高度讚賞，令台灣鄉親備感欣慰和鼓舞。
建中樂旗隊這次在亞伯達省夏季盛會牛仔節中揚眉吐氣，12日代表參
加樂旗項目表演，出賽時展現整齊劃一的花式表演隊形，和精采的創意
音樂曲風，獲得大會頒授的金牌獎（Gold Award）。
據當地的卡加利前鋒報報導，建中樂旗隊的演出「扣人心弦」。
在卡加利市停留七天期間，建中樂旗隊曾於 8日參加牛仔節大遊行，
讓市民和觀眾留下深刻印象，後來又在表演項目中大放光芒，演出令人
驚豔，奪走大獎。
僑居卡加利的僑務促進委員簡初美接受本報電話訪問時表示，建中樂
旗隊不但在表演場上憑實力獲獎，而且團員個個彬彬有禮，態度謙和，
被接送外地表演團體的巴士司機公評為最佳出席團體。
簡初美表示，建中樂旗隊來訪及出賽，卡加利台灣同鄉會會長杜秀容
和許多鄉親曾到場打氣加油，建中團員演出成功，令他們感到與有榮焉。
建中樂旗隊團員共61名，由學務主任徐建國率領，連同教職員、家長
共70餘人，在卡加利受到當地台灣鄉親的熱烈歡迎。建中樂旗隊今年已
是第三度來加拿大，參加卡加利牛仔節演出。
建中樂旗隊成立於1983年，經過嚴謹多元化的訓練，已蛻變為一支名
揚國際的樂旗表演校隊。該校樂旗隊曾前後出訪日本、馬來西亞、新加
坡、澳洲、美國等地，並榮獲世界樂旗大賽季軍。

Finally, after two previous appearances, a Taiwanese triumph.
The Chien Kuo Senior High School Marching Band, from Taipei, Taiwan,
captured the Stampede's annual marching show band competition Tuesday
night at the Saddledome, defeating five other outfits on the way to victory.
The Taiwanese band performed music from Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba, with
six of its 65 members acting as a colour guard.
Those six "put on a show as a circus act," said Brent Hironka, of the
Stampede's band management committee.
"They added something to the effect. The performance, technically,
and the music, were so clean and precise."
The Chien Kuo band had been here twice before, finishing third in 2000
when the Stampede hosted the world championship.
Second place Tuesday went to the Bishop Grandin High School Marching Ghosts.
"The neat thing about their show," noted Hironka, "was that it was all
written, arranged and choreographed by their band director (Elmer Rigel)
-- original music written as a tribute to Alberta's centennial."
Third place was shared by the Calgary Stetson Showband, the Red Deer Royals,
the Allegiance Elite and the Calgary Round Up Band.
