HTTP traffic can be modified between the server and the client.
HTTPS traffic has resilience against that (not perfect, but much better).
If you don't care if people see your static site unmodified by hostile third parties or not, then why have the site up at all?
You obviously don't care about the site or your visitors, so take it down.
