Homologous sequences.
Orthologs and Paralogs are two types of homologous sequences.
Orthology describes genes in different species that derive from
a common ancestor. Orthologous genes may or may not have the same
function.
Paralogy describes homologous genes within a single species
that diverged by gene duplication.
這就是中文麻煩的時候
都有同源的意思
但是Orthologs是指一個同源基因 在不同物種之間
功能不一定相同
就像SBDS 這個基因植物有 在人也有 酵母菌也有
都位在 RNA processing 有關的基因簇中 但是 功能卻有所不同
Paralogy就像圖中所示
再同一物種身上 有兩個基因來自共同祖先基因的duplication.
這是指同一物種本身的基因之間的關係
