烏鴉不清楚別人的搜尋思路是怎麼樣子的,
但是烏鴉可以分享烏鴉的思路給您參考.
遇到這類看似基本卻沒人可以完整的回答的問題,
通常烏鴉會先去各家生技公司查相關產品 (NEB, Invitrogen, Promega...)
通常產品都會有相關描述, 比如說可以找到:
DH5a Cells

cloning applications. In addition to supporting blue/white screening,
recA1 and endA1 mutations in DH5a increase insert stability and
improve the quality of plasmid DNA prepared from minipreps.

這樣子就可以猜的出來是因為該種菌株裡面所有的基因不同,
所以可以有適合不同的功能.
至於為什麼那種基因可以增加 insert 穩定性;
為什麼那個基因可以增加 plasmid 的產量跟品質?
這種時候烏鴉就會看看該產品他們有沒有提供相關的期刊來源鏈結,
沒有的話就去 NCBI 找找, 要不就很簡單的把那個基因的關鍵字丟到
Google 上面去找... 不過後面的事情就很耗時間了...
除非無聊要跟人辯東辯西的, 通常不會去弄... ._.||
