I honestly never thought I would be writing this entry so early in October, but unfortunately it's the end of another season for the Yankees and me. Words can't possibly describe how disappointed I am that the season is over this soon. Simply put, the Detroit Tigers played all-around great baseball. They beat us in every facet of the game. They earned those three victories, and absolutely deserve to move on to the ALCS. After we were eliminated on Saturday, the media asked me a lot of questions regarding my future in New York -- whether I want to leave, or if I will be traded, etc. I will tell you what I told them: I am 100 percent committed to being a Yankee now and in the future. I don't want to play anywhere else. I never have (and never will) run away from the responsibility I have to this team. I believe I am part of the solution to winning a championship here. I want to finish my career in New York. Even though I wish the Yankees were playing for three more weeks, now that the offseason is here, I can look forward to spending lots of time with my family and friends. I'll head home to Miami later this week. The offseason promises to be busy -- the AROD Family Foundation fundraiser in November, the AROD Basketball Classic in December, my daughter's second birthday ... there will be lots of events to keep me busy. But baseball will always be in the back of my mind. I'm already preparing to come back -- to put 2006 behind me, and prepare for a successful 2007 season. You know, lost in all this postseason drama is the fact that the game of baseball lost a great man with the passing of Negro Leagues legend, Buck O'Neil. I had the honor of knowing Mr. O'Neil. He was an inspiration to me. He was an inspiration to anyone who ever met him. He will be missed dearly, but his legacy will live forever in our hearts. I highly encourage all of you take some time and learn about this amazing man and his many contributions to the game. I want to close by thanking everyone for the tremendous support you have shown me at the ballpark and in your e-mails and messages. Until next time, I wish all of you well. -- 長い助走が終わりつつあります。飛翔の為の準備を始めました。 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ※ 編輯: pathfinder 來自: 220.134.12.43 (10/13 20:22)
