The reserch revealed that while most non-users had
a strong interest in the past, museums were not felt
to put the past over in an interesting and involving
way. Museums have a negative image. They are seen as
boring, musty, gloomy and stuffy. The atmsophere was
likened to being in a church or library. Many non-users
had formulated their negative image long ago but as they
had not been back to museums, this image had not chaned.
Non-users with recent experience of the big London museums,
this image had
not changed. Non-users with recent experience of the big London
museums often reported back favourably on certain aspects
of the exhibitions and realised that museums could be exciting and
interesting places. But they still tended to have an unfavourable overall
image of museums.
研究揭示當大多數非觀眾過去有強烈的興趣時，
博物館沒有試著以有趣且參與的方式呈現過去。
博物館有種負面的印象。
他們被視為令人厭煩，陳腐，陰暗的和古板的。
