[問題] Dogs are man's best friend/friends.
要翻譯這句話: 狗是人類最好的朋友
Dogs are man's best friend/ friends.
我的疑問是: 這邊的補語friend 要用單數還是複數?
我的想法是:
用單數感覺上比較合乎語意.
用複數感覺上是因為要跟複數主詞做結構上的呼應.
用google查出來的筆數, 單數或複數都很多人用.
此外,在瀚林Book4 Unit2的Reading中,
有一段寫著:
We bought some snacks at the supermarket there.
My favorite ones are the pineapple cakes－
they are the most delicious snacks in the world.
若結論是單複數皆可,那麼,
課本上用snacks, 是否寫snack也對呢?
