The call for applications for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2017/18
funded by Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) will begin on 1 September
2016. PhD students will be recruited to Hong Kong on a worldwide basis. We
are looking for applicants who are able to demonstrate outstanding qualities
of academic performance, research ability/potential, communication and
interpersonal skills, leadership ability and societal responsibility,
irrespective of their country of origin and ethnic background.
The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately
US$2,600) and travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year
for awardees for a maximum period of three years. In addition, PolyU will
award those with a four-year normal study period the same provision during
their fourth year of study and award each PhD Fellowship awardee with a
tuition scholarship covering the entire normal study period. Hall
accommodation in the first year of study will also be guaranteed.
The Faculty of Construction and Environment is highly recognized
internationally, which is ranked 11th in the subject of civil and structural
engineering and 12th in the subject of architecture/built environment,
according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015; 3rd in the
subject of civil engineering according to Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking
of Academic Subjects 2016 and 6th in the subject of civil engineering
according to the National Taiwan University Ranking 2014. Our PhD graduates
have been teaching in prestigious universities worldwide, including Hong Kong
University, Hong Kong PolyU, Hong Kong City U, Delft University of
Technology, University of Western Australia, University of Auckland, Western
Virginia University, Tsinghua university, Tongji University and others.
