Golden State*
Than any dreamer I'd dreamed, I dreamed more the wind of San Francisco.
Than any lover I'd loved, I loved more the man from San Diego.
More lyrical than the central cello in Dvorak concerto.**
More beautiful than the final canto of Dante Paradiso.***
Then I grew older, it blew no longer.
Then came an error, I became a loner.
Let it be so,
If mortals and mortals must wrestle with every morrow.
But don't bow low,
For rainbows and rainbows will circle 'round every rainbow
Above the golden shadow of every sorrow.
