NYC Marriage Equality Act generates $259 Million in Economic Impact

同性婚姻合法與否可說是總統選舉的兵家必爭之地。雖然在政治觀及宗教信仰上，許多人對同性婚姻仍堅持己見，但同性婚姻帶來的經濟效應卻不可小覷。在檢視同性婚姻合法化的同時，也應該重新以不同的角度來看同性婚姻所帶來的周邊效應。

The economic benefits of NYC Marriage Equality Act are often (A.)overshadowed by the accompanying political and religious (B.)uproars. While the debate over the political and religious values of same-sex marriage may never subside, the revenue and economic impact it has generated are indisputable. One year after the enactment of the Marriage Equality Act, same-sex marriage has generated $16 million revenue in license fees and boosted New York City’s economy by $259 million.
紐約市《婚姻均等法案》帶來的經濟效益往往被政治及宗教信仰帶來的騷動所掩蓋。或許人們在同性婚姻的政治、宗教觀上的爭論永遠不會平息，但同性婚姻所帶來的稅收及經濟效應卻是無庸置疑。在《婚姻均等法案》通過後的一年，同性婚姻已為紐約市賺入美金一千六百萬的結婚證書稅收並帶動了美金兩億五千九百萬的經濟發展。
New York City Mayor Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn announced on the one year anniversary of Marriage Equality Act, “Marriage equality has made our city more open, (C.)inclusive and free—and it has also helped to create jobs and support our economy.” The new (1)cash cow brought significant economic boost to the city, majority in wedding related services. Same-sex couples tend to hold weddings and celebrations in local hotels and restaurants, which also raise the demand for
photographers and caterers. While many same-sex couples hold more frugal weddings compared with the general population, they still spent an average of ten (2)grand on their weddings.

In addition, more than two thirds of the guests partaking the (3)knot tying ceremony are from other states and countries; thus, they must utilize airline and hotel services. The guests, who booked more than 235,000 nights in hotel rooms at a daily rate of $275 per room, often seized the chance to tour New York. They flock to famous sights and consequently bring new life to the local business.

New York is only one anecdote that informs the general public the economic advantage of legalizing same-sex marriage. Similar impacts can be found in other states such as Massachusetts and Iowa. Same-sex marriage boosted Massachusetts’ economy by $111 million over the first five years and provided an additional $12 million to Iowa state and local economies. According to Congressional Budget Office, same-sex marriage could generate an estimated $1 billion per year for the Federal budget if the campaign
becomes nationwide. The economic impact of same-sex marriage may not alter people’s political and religious beliefs; however, it provides a fresh angle that people have failed to notice before.
紐約只是同性婚姻合法化帶來經濟效益中的一個小節，其他州也有類似的效益。同性婚姻在五年內帶動了麻薩諸塞州美金一億一千一百萬的經濟發展，也為愛荷華州增加了美金一千兩百萬的稅收。根據美國國會預算辦公室預估，全國開放同性婚姻將為聯邦政府帶來每年額外十億美金的收入。同性婚姻帶來的經濟效應或許不能改變人們的政治觀及宗教信仰，但它提供了人們以前未曾注意到的新視角。

看到這篇文章的時候很有感觸....
感覺很多時候在討論同性婚姻的議題都著重在其他的觀點，
但是這篇文章卻是以單純的經濟角度切入....並沒有處及其他普羅大眾在談論同性婚姻時的觀點
以經濟的角度 為了幫助台灣經濟!! 應該跟台灣政府建議一下!!!XDD

本來是用推的 後來決定用修改的比較快(所以我有修掉我自己推的內容)
先澄清一下 這不是我翻譯的文章啦!
這是我自己訂的一個電子報，常常會有一些不同議題的新聞分享
然後好像也有附加英文單字的教學(所以才會有前面的進入本文先想一下下列單字)
說真的看到大家推，還蠻感動的...
因為自己在前幾年因緣際會的加入拉版就一直默默的潛水。
一開始是因為想要幫助拉友(可以醬講嗎?)了解怎麼跟父母溝通這件事情而找到了拉版
後來也就養成了沒事逛一下拉版的習慣...
說真的...很多時候總覺得想要回覆一點什麼想要講一點話
但是又很怕自己的口氣或是用的字眼會讓拉拉們覺得不舒服...
雖然我朋友都覺得我很好笑他們覺得一點關係都沒有
但是我都覺得那是因為他們認識我 知道我講一些東西沒有想太多或是沒有別的意思
但是在網路上 隔了一台電腦 更容易不小心犯錯....
所以就一直是個默默淺水的角色
這次這篇文章 其實真的是看到的時候靈機一動覺得應該分享給拉拉們看
所以就PO上來了....看到推還蠻高興的!
另外我也很喜歡LemonMe分享的文章
不同地國家也有一樣的經濟觀點!
或許就著經濟的角度會有更多人願意了解!
