Ranking and Recognition:
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching ranks UW-Milwaukee in
the top 3% of research universities in the United States. The Foundation
classifies UW-Milwaukee as a large four-year, research university that offers
both arts and sciences degrees, professional programs, and comprehensive
doctoral degrees.
Individual School and College Information:
School of Information Studies:
-Ranked 13th out of the top library and information science schools in the
U.S.#
-Faculty are ranked in the top 5 for research
-The School offers a fully on-line ALA-accredited Master of Library and
Information Science degree
School of Architecture and Urban Planning:
-Ranked among the top 20 schools of Architecture in the US*
-The faculty of the school were ranked 8th in the number of national awards
won through the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture
-Offers Wisconsin's only PhD Program in Architecture
School of Education:
-The graduate program is ranked as one of best in the US*
-Offers Wisconsin's only PhD program in Urban Education
-Partnerships with over 200 primary and secondary schools and community
programs
College of Nursing:
-The graduate program is continually ranked in the top 10% in the US*
Peck School of the Arts:
-Ranked 61st out of graduate schools in the Arts in the US*
-The Film Department is 15th among film departments in the US*
-UW-Milwaukee is the only campus in the UW system that trains students in the
five major art disciplines: Dance, Film, Music, Theatre, and Visual Art
-The School offers scholarships in all disciplines for bachelors and masters
students
College of Engineering and Applied Science:
-The U.S. Army awarded $3.5 million in grants to the College's Materials
Engineering Department to explore aluminum-base composites
-75% of international students receive financial support from the College
Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business:
-The business programs have been accredited by the Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business for over 30 years, a distinction less than 15%
of business schools have earned worldwide.
College of Health Sciences:
-Three bachelors degree programs have been ranked among the top in the US
-The largest College of Health Sciences in the Midwest region of the US
College of Letters and Science:
-The Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies represents the first degree program
of its kind in the US*
Helen Bader School of Social Welfare:
-The School is ranked 34th in the US*
-The Endowed Chair in Applied Gerontology, one of the university's largest
endowments, is worth over 3 million dollars.
-The Center for Addiction and Behavioral Health Research (CABHR) is a
national figure in addictions research and is a leader on campus in the
generation of external research funding.
