We are looking for male and female dancers to take part in a site-specific
choreographic residency supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, and
directed by Canadian choreographer and dancer Léa Tremblay Fong and French
dancer and visual artist Florent Schwartz.
The residency will begin in Taipei (Beitou District) on February 18th, 2016,
and the chosen dancers will join in gradually, starting with rehearsals and
informal showings between March 3rd and March 22nd.
We will favor candidates who are:
- versatile in contemporary dance (with energy style) and free style
performance (experience in theater, site-specific performances,
improvisation). - open and interested to do creative research in outside
spaces (the performance will happen in the street) and be involved in
discussions as much as physical explorations.
- open and interested to explore thematics based on personal stories and
perspectives, as well as social and political issues.
- able to understand and communicate in English (at least intermediate level).
The project will be guided by different theater techniques (RSVP cycle
theater, Viewpoints Improvisation) and approaches to site-specific
choreography resulting in physical performances. If needed, additional
technical and strength training might be added in the process.
