Banff National Park
Getting back to nature in Canada's Rocky Mountains
Banff National Park was once in my backyard! Well, not quite that close,
but I did grow up only an hour's drive away from this beautiful place. It's
Cancda's oldest and best national park, hidden in the majestic Rocky Mountains.
When I had the chance to go back and visit the park last summer,I jumped on it.
First I headed for the Sulphur Mountain gondola ride. This is the place to
go for a panoramic view of the town of Banff.
The surrounding peaks and valleys look beautiful from the top, as well.
After reaching the summiet, I walked the short trail there and fed some ground
squirrels. The park contains all kinds of mountain wildlife, from tiny rodents
to huge bears.
i scanned the beautiful landscape, looking for some mountain goats or maybe
an eagle. No luck, unforunately. But when I returned to the parking lot at the
base of the mountain, I saw a family of deer! They were feeding on some leaves
right next to the road.
