Howard: Well, I'm a 13-year veteran and Craig, he's a rookie, right? So we'll

On his feelings about joining the Timberwolves:
Howard: Well, I'm excited to have an opportunity to play here for the
Timberwolves. Like Kevin (McHale) mentioned, I had an opportunity, truly
years ago, to play here for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, it
didn't work out that way. But now, of course, God has truly led me back here
so that I can have this opportunity. It's going to be fun and exciting, and
my role, of course, has been for many years in the NBA who comes out to
compete night in and night out. Not only that, but to be a true leader both
on the floor and off the floor, to work hard, set an example and play the
game like it's supposed to be played. I think this team has a chance to be
pretty good. I'm also excited to get the chance to play alongside of Kevin
Garnett.

On how he reacted when Yao Ming went down with an injury last year in Houston:
Howard: I did what I was supposed to do: Stay ready whenever my name was
called, go out there and compete hard. Yes, we all know that Yao went down
with an injury, and truly we as a team had to step up, including myself, but
I had the confidence in my game like I've had for many years that I could go
out there and compete at the highest level with the best of them. Do I still
have some left in the tank? Yes, I do. Whatever role is called upon me to
help this team, I will accept that.
對於姚明受傷期間霍華德的反應

McHale: I think from the other side looking in, what Juwan was able to do
during that time was to keep Houston afloat and keep them moving in the right
direction; I thought it was very impressive. We all knew he could do it, but
he just stepped into that role and really flourished. There's no question
that Juwan's got gas in the tank, we all know that. He's played that very
intelligent, very deliberate game -- he's not just going to run up and down
the court high-flying. I think those guys always play longer and play more
effectively, because when you know how to play you know how to be effective.
We knew we got a guy who knew how to play the game... As you get older, you
get smarter; you don't get more athletic. But it doesn't hurt you because you
know how to play the game.

On his thoughts about the Wolves' young core of Randy Foye, Craig Smith and
Rashad McCants:
Well this team has some exciting young players that of course have a very
exciting future ahead of them. If they continue to work on their game, play
hard and be aggressive out there on the floor, I think the sky's the limit. I
think Randy showed a lot, and I think he surprised a lot of people coming in
as a rookie. Guy came in, played with a lot of poise and held the team
together at times. Craig Smith, he hurt us -- when I was playing for Houston,
Craig came into the game and played like a game-changer. Very aggressive,
strong and very active ballplayer, but not only that he can put the ball in
the hole. Being on the other side showed that he has a big heart and is an
experienced competitor. McCants, he had the injury of course last year and
didn't play much, but before the injury I know he was a skilled player and
very athletic. He won a championship at the college level, which shows you
right there he knows how to win. I'm pretty sure this summer he's working
very hard, because next year he's got a lot to prove.
