: guard Sam Cassell is having a positive influence with the
: Los Angeles Clippers, but he's not the defender Minnesota needed.
: That's part of the reason why the Wolves traded him for Marko Jaric
: this summer. And it helps that Troy Hudson has recovered from ankle
: problems that hampered him last season.

: worked on a lot of different stuff," Garnett said. "So you have to
: anticipate it getting better at one point, and it has."

: The offense has improved as well.

: There isn't a much uglier sight in basketball than a defense-oriented
: team with players that aren't hitting their jump shots. And that's
: what happened early this season. Wally Szczerbiak shot 39.1 percent
: through the first seven games, when the Wolves went 3-4.

: times Saturday and recently helped defend the Cleveland Cavaliers'

: The Wolves have gotten important contributions off the bench from two
: reserves in particular.

: "We're starting to understand each other," Jaric said. "Confidence is
: starting to raise, not only mine but all the players. I knew it was
: going to take some time, and finally we're on a good roll right now."
