SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former Timberwolves guard Fred Hoiberg confirmed Sunday
he could start scrimmaging this week in a limited role.
前灰狼後衛Fred Hoiberg在星期天證實他將開始爭取有限
的角色(名單一員？)
Hoiberg said he has an appointment scheduled with his specialists this week to
get an update on his status after the surgery he had in June to correct an
enlarged aortic root. He will be fitted with a shirt with some protective
padding that will help cover his chest area, where he has a pacemaker
permanently implanted.
他說在這禮拜和專門醫師談過之後，得知了他現在身體的狀況。他在
六月時動了心臟的大動脈手術。需要穿著特殊的衣物來保護胸腔部位，並

He still hopes to play for the Wolves next season.

"Running-wise, I feel great," Hoiberg said before Minnesota's game against the
Sacramento Kings. "I've gotten my heart rate up around 170. I had to stay
under 150 for a long time."
在與國王之戰前，他說一切順利，現在感覺很棒。我讓我的心跳在170

Hoiberg can run sprints full speed now. He's stayed active by shooting baskets
with his former teammates during practice and lifting weights with them as
well.

The Wolves waived Hoiberg this summer using the one-time amnesty clause in
the new collective bargaining agreement. That means Hoiberg won't be able
to play for Minnesota until 2006-07 because he can't re-sign with the Wolves
until the free-agency period next summer.

"My thing is to get back in shape as quickly as possible," he said.

Hoiberg plans to re-sign with the Wolves but left the door open to possibly
playing elsewhere this season. He said it would be difficult emotionally to
join another team, but he wants to play again.

"I think the big thing with teams would be that my doctors clear me," he said.

Until then, he said he could start playing one on one this week. Hoiberg said
he still has a long way to go to regain his playing shape. To do that, he
needs to be able to play in competitive scrimmages.

"My mentality is like I'm on the injured list right now," Hoiberg said.

the Wolves' staff, he talks with the coaches more than ever before. He offers
advice on things such as game plans.

到半場只有8個，全場22個。皆平了隊史新低。(在94年對尼克時以及
99年對拓荒者時全場22個籃板；95對上尼克半場時只抓了8個籃板)
Nice building: Wolves coach Dwane Casey was impressed with Sacramento's
$6 million practice facility, which houses executive offices, lavish
weight-lifting equipment and a training room. That's in addition to two
full-length courts. Minnesota general manager Jim Stack walked through the
facility on a mini-tour.
The building is about five years old, but it's a cut above the Wolves'
facilities. Casey said he wasn't worried about his players admiring other
teams' facilities on road trips. The players backed him.
"It's nice, but the facility doesn't mean anything to tell you the truth,"
guard Anthony Carter said. "They haven't won a championship."
The Kings are lobbying for a new arena to replace ARCO. NBA Commissioner
David Stern is backing the movement in hopes of keeping the Kings in
Sacramento. In a recent interview with the Sacramento Bee, he shot down
rumors that the Kings have applied for relocation to another city.
Briefly: Minnesota's eight rebounds at halftime and 22 rebounds overall
Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers matched franchise lows. The Wolves
had 22 rebounds in a 1994 game against the New York Knicks and again at
Portland in 1999. The Wolves also had just eight rebounds in a half in that
game against the Knicks and in a 1995 game at Utah.
Heading into the game against the Kings, Minnesota had been outrebounded by
an average margin of 12.7 a game on the road this season. Casey said he thinks
that's an indication that his players need to play with more effort.
? The Wolves began Sunday with a four-game winning streak at ARCO Arena.
