Roddick’s Drive to the Final Ends in an Upset

After the match ended, Lu sat in his chair on Court 2, staring into space.
He said he had been thinking of his father, the man who learned tennis at
the same time as his son, who drove his son to tennis lessons and supported
his son’s dreams.

The family sold chickens. Not processed chicken. Live chickens. Lu used to
have to run and catch them, and he laughed when he relayed that to reporters.
He found himself unsuited to the family business, mainly because of the smell
and the hours, from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., when the chickens could not see and
thus could not run.
盧家裡是作活雞買賣的，不是處理過的雞肉喔。盧小時候得追著雞跑逮住牠們。
他說給記者聽時自己邊笑。雞隻的氣味、半夜一點到凌晨六點的工作時段，
深夜裡雞隻看不見所以不會亂跑，盧發現自己並不適合繼承家業。
In 2000, the year Lu turned professional, his father died. On Monday,
sitting in that chair, after the most important win of his career,
he thought about his father and chickens and things that families
do for dreams.
2000年，盧進入職業賽事，他的父親卻在那年過世了。星期一這天，他職業生涯中
最重要的一場勝利後，坐在休息椅上，他想到的是父親、養雞事業、
以及為了支持他的夢想家人所做的一切。
“I’m really proud to share this victory with him in the sky,”
Lu said. “I hope he sees this match.”
盧說：我很驕傲能與在天堂的父親分享這場勝利，我希望他看見了。
When it ended, the men headed off in opposite directions.
Lu charmed a gallery of reporters, most of whom had never heard of him
on Monday morning. His next opponent will be Novak Djokovic, the third seed,
in the quarterfinals.
比賽結束後，兩位球員朝相反的方向離場。記者們擠滿了通道要採訪盧，
其中大部份記者在這場比賽前根本不認識他。在八強賽中，他的下個對手是第三種子
Novak Djokovic.
