a. Describe the crypt for a death Egyptian pharaoh. (p.185 #1, 2, 3)
In 1954 near the base of Great Pyramid, archeologists discovered the crypt.
The purpose of the crypt was to bury an Egyptian king.
The custom is to bury the king with two boats: one to carry the body,
the other to carry the soul.
b. Describe the fall of Constantinople. (p.204 #1, 2, 4)
The people of Constantinople believed the city could never fall while
the moon was full. In 1451 Sultan Mohammed II attacked the city,
and in 1453 the people lost the city to Mohammed after the full moon
went into an eclipse.
c. Describe the reasons why scientists are interested in the exploration
of Mars. (p.224 #6)
Scientists want to discover how Earth is different from Mars;
how we can explain the development of life on Earth and not on Mars;
and whether we are alone in the universe.
