Part 7:
Questions 191-195 refer to the following announcement and article.
Pacific Region Cruises
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR GLORY ISLAND CRUISE PASSENGERS
Because of Tropical Storm Suzanne, the Glory Island cruise scheduled to depart
on July 10 has changed its itinerary. The seven-day excursion will now travel
to Coconut Inlet in Levereaux Bay rather than to Glory Island. All but one of
the activities available on Glory Island are also offered at Coconut Inlet.
Horseback riding on the beach will be offered in place of the dolphin swim
adventure.
We regret the inconvenience and will offer full refund to those passengers
wishing to cancel.
CRUISE SHIP ALTERS ITINERARY
Yesterday, more than 2,500 Pacific Region Cruise passengers who had purchased
tickets for a cruise to Glory Island were told that their trip had been
rerouted to the north. Cruise officials blamed the unexpected change on
Tropical Storm Suzanne, which is making the southern seas unsuitable for
travel. The seven-day excursion is now scheduled to head for Coconut Inlet in
Levereaux Bay. 250 miles north of Glory Island.
Most of the passengers had missed the notice posted on the company's Web site a
few days earlier and only found out about the change upon arrival at the
Roebling Country Pier. Passengers who were looking forward to an adventure at
sea claimed that Coconut Inlet was not an acceptable substitute for the
original destination. "We were so excited about spending some time at the shore
and visiting Marine Park. They're telling us that we'll be able to do most of
the same activities, but the one thing I really wanted to do isn't available
and horseback riding really can't compare," complained Frank Rodriguez, who was
waiting to have his ticket refunded. "That's right. If we wanted to go
horseback riding, we would've booked a trip to a world-famous resort rather
than some unknown place," commented Marissa Fillmore, another passenger waiting
in the refund line.
Susan Kwan, spokesperson for Pacific Region Cruises, said that it is not
uncommon to alter the itinerary at the last minute during the summer season due
to unanticipated weather changes and the passengers are asked to check the Web
site frequently for updated information. Kwan added that the change of the
trip's destination reflects the company's efforts to provide the vacationers
with memorable experiences instead of canceling the trip altogether.
Although refunds were given to those who wanted to cancel their trips. 85% of
passengers decided to go along with the new plan.
191. What caused the cruise itinerary to change?
(A) Cancellations of flights.
(B) Changes in the weather.
(C) Overbooking at the resort.
(D) Unfinished repair at the pier.
192. How did the majority of passengers find out about change?
(A) They received an e-mail message.
(B) They got a call from their travel agent.
(C) They read the notice on the company's Web site.
(D) They were informed at the departure site.
193. What did Frank Rodriguez hope to do on Glary Island?
(A) See a tropical storm.
(B) Visit a famous resort.
(C) Swim with dolphins.
(D) Ride horses.
194. What does Marissa Fillmore imply about Coconut Inlet?
(A) It is not a famous resort.
(B) She enjoyed her last vacation there.
(C) A wide variety of activities are offered there.
(D) It is too far away for a seven-day trip.
195. According to the article, how did the passengers react to the modified
route?

(B) Some filed an official complaint.
(C) Most of them accepted the change.
