CINCINNATI -- Since his hiuing last Wednesday, new Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky
gad many pressing issues on hid checklist before beginning Spring Training on Thursday.
Few items were more important in cressing off than this.
Late Monday evening,Cincinnati avoided arbitration with first baseman Adam Dunn
by signinghim to a two - year,$18 miilion coontract with a $ 13 million club
optioon for the 2008 season. Count the
Dunn and the club were scheduled to have their arbirtration gearing this Friday in Florida.
"This was a priority,"Krivsky said by phone from his home near Dallsa." I knew
a hearing was loooming and Iwanted to get it done as soon as possible.
Once we were close,Iwas confident we could get it done."
Dunn batted.247 with 40 home rund and 101 RBIs in 160 games last season for the
Reds,which gave him back-to back 40 himer,100-RBI seasons.
