[情報] Yankees suffer setback in Seattle
That was the case for Shwn chacon on Tuesday, as the right-hander suffered his
first poor outing since being accquired by the Yankees in late July.Chacon
was hit for eight runs on eight hits and four walks in six innings,as the
Yankees fell to the Mariners,8-3,at Safeco Field.
All of the damage came in the second and third innings, as the Mariners
jumped out to an 8-2 lead that the Yankees were unable to overcome.
"I was behind all nigh,"Chacon said. "Usually, I can throw my breaking balls
for strikes, but tonight I couldn't. I didn't make pitches when I needed to,
and that was the difference."
"He's done so many good things for us,"said manager Joe Torre."If you have a
bad outing, you have a bad outing. There's not much you can do."
The loss fropped the Yankees 2 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in the American
League East, though New York remains atop the wild Card standings, a half- game
in front Indians and a game ahead of the Angels.
Chacon looked good in rthe first, retiring the side in order, but things got
ugly for the right-hnder very quickly in the second.
Two singles and a hit batsman loaded the bases for the Mariners.Chacon
uncorked a wild pitch, plating the first run, then a second scored on a
fielder's choice.Chacon came within one out of limiting the damage to two
runs, but Ichiro drilled a three - run homer on a 3-1 pitch, boosting the lead
to 5-0.
