[情報] 洋基Chacon下山後精采表現
The right-hander, who had just one win in 12 starts with the Rockies
this season, earned his third win in six starts since joining the Yankees,
leading New York to a 6-2 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon.
"This was a grind;I didn't really feel like I had anything today, as far as
command of my pitches," Chacon said."I made a few good ptiches when I needed
to, but overall, I would't say I had my good stuff today."
Chacon allowed two runs on six hits, striking out six in the victory. He
survived four walks, two hit batsmen and two bases-loaded jams, improving to
3-1 with the Yankees.
"Today was probably as wild as he's been, but he worked out of some jams,"
said Derek Jeter."He's given us an opportunity to win every time he's been
on the mound."
The Yankees took three of four from the Blue Jays thos week, bolstering
their position in the Wild Card race, New York and Oakland are tied for the
top spot, with Cleveland trailing by a half game going in to its Thursday
night matchup with Tampa Bay.
Gary Sheffield and Alex Rodriguez did their best to make Chacon's day as easy
as possible, bashing back-to back home runs against Gustavo Chacin in the
first inning to stake their starter to a 4-0 lead.
Sheffield broke an 0-for-12 skid with his long ball, putting aside his personal
issues surrounding the pending legal trouble involving his uncle,Dwight Gooden.
"In the state of mind that he's in -- for gim to hit that ball, it was a great
momentum changer for us,said A-Rod.
The Yankees didn't get much going against Chacin after the first, as the rookie
southpaw allowed just two hots from the second through the fifth.
"You know if you're going to get to some pitchers, you have to get to them
early, said manager Joe Torre,"Chacin certainly settled in after that."
Chacon allowed a run in the second and another an inning later, but he
stranded the bases loaded in the third by striking out Gregg Zaun.
"He has so many ways of getting guys out,"said A-Rod."The strikeout of Zaun,
that was a big pitch for us."
Chacon faced another bases-loaded situation in the sixth, this time with one
out. Torre contemplated going to the bullpen, but given his starter's
impressive.167 opponents'average with runners in scoring position, the manager
opted to leave Chacon in to clean up his own mess.
"I could have been persuaded either way at that point to leave him in ortake
him out,"Torre said. "What he's done over the past few starts when he has
gotten in trouble, he's not afraid to throw the offspeed stuff."
