1. 自介： We are a group with different education
backgrounds who are interested in starting a culturally diverse
and intellectually challnging study group.
2. 對象： Anyone who speaks decent English, self-motivated, and is willing
to broaden your perspectives by reading and discussing with others.
3. 目標：1. improve oral skills in English
2. develop abilities to think critically
3. expand our knowledges in areas we are not familiar with
4. 原因： see above
5. 地點： Currently at La Crema (克立瑪), 台北市大安區光復南路280巷45號.
6. 時間： Wednesday 7:00-9:00 pm
7. 方式：
I. Idea sharing (2 hr) (main)
Each of us will make a brief presentation (5~10 min) on a specific topic.
There is no limitation to what you share. You can simply talk about what you
just learned from a magazine, a column on a newspaper, a TV program, or even
some conversation with your friends. The basic idea is that as long as the
idea is new and interesting to you and you would like to share with us, you
are very welcome to bring it to the meeting. After the speech, 5 min will be
reserved for people to ask questions and make supplements. This session is
aimed at exposing ourselves in areas we are not familiar with in order to
expand our perspectives.
II. Debate (1.5 hr)
This session will be precisely timed to make sure we make the best use of
every minute. The timing pressure will also be of a good practice for making
points clear within a limited time. We will make host rotations per week.
The host will be responsible for choosing the issue of debate, initiating
the process by making a brief introduction, and making sure every speech is
precisely timed.
