(Reuters) - Chipmaker NXP Semiconductors NV said on Wednesday it will buy
Marvell Technology Group Ltd’s wireless connectivity business for $1.76
billion in cash.
NXP will sell Marvell’s connectivity products such as WiFi and Bluetooth
along with its edge computing platforms to its clients in industrial,
automotive and communication infrastructure markets.
The unit brought in $300 million in revenue for Marvell in fiscal 2019 and
NXP expects that to double by 2022.
高通與 NXP 的合併案，最後在博通趁高通與蘋果訴訟放話收購高通的攪局、以及由於中
美貿易戰中國遲遲未核可雙方合併之後，最終也連帶宣告破局，而 NXP 倒是在稍早宣布
收購 Marvell 的 WiFi 與藍牙部門，做為補齊其無線通訊環境的戰略，這樁部門收購將
以 17.6 億美金於 2020 年第一季完成。
NXP 看好包括 WiFi 與藍牙技術在車載、邊際運算等物聯網領域的需求，藉由收購
Marvell 的 WiFi 與藍牙部門補強當前 NXP 專注的領域， Marvell 的 WiFi 與藍牙部
門在 2019 年為公司進帳 3 億美金， NXP 預計該部門在 2022 年可為它們帶來一倍的收
益。
