這首歌在英國中古時期由吟遊詩人傳唱後來由Paul Simon改編，並作為《畢業生》的插曲他把"Scarborough Fair"跟他所作的反戰歌曲"On the side of a hill" 作為副歌兩首和在一起，產生出對比的感覺。 Scarborough Fair部份描述著歌者要求往日愛人數件奇怪的任務如果愛人能完成的話就能回到他身邊，但這只是歌者單方面的想像象徵了愛人已經不會再回到身邊的失落。而每段歌詞的第二句出現的(Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme) 其中花語分別代表愛情的甜蜜，力量，忠誠和勇氣。 "On the side of a hill"在每一句後以Canticle出現反映當時經歷越戰的美國，加入了戰爭的孩子，卻在深深的在群山中睡去剛開完槍的士兵清洗他的槍後重新開始，兩邊將軍下令下士兵們瘋狂的殺戮。 Simon & Garfunkel - Scarborough Fair Are you going to Scarborough Fair? 你正要去史卡博羅市集嗎?
