[Purpose of the role]
Our anti-abuse group is responsible for protecting Proton users and
infrastructure from attacks by bad actors. We have built custom systems that
detect suspicious behavior or traffic and then automatically mitigate them in
real-time. Some examples of what we do include filtering spam and phishing
emails, disabling spammers that abuse ProtonMail, blocking bulk signups,
preventing attackers from compromising user accounts, and mitigating DDoS
attacks. In order to build and operate these sophisticated solutions, the
group consists of a mix of software engineers, site reliability engineers,
machine learning engineers, and analysts. For high availability and
reliability, the group is split across multiple time zones to support 24/7
coverage.
[What you will do]
- Build new features for our spam and abuse detection and prevention systems
- Improve internal dashboards that allow us to monitor and interact with the
systems
- Work with ML engineers and analysts to support their workflow
- Work with product frontend teams in Proton to integrate our systems
- Make architectural decisions for the frontends of systems with varying
levels of complexity
