The stumbling 76ers, owners of a 31-34 record, head into today's finale of
their last Western Conference swing having lost six of their last seven.

They are 5 1/2 games behind the Atlantic Division-leading Nets, with the winner
receiving the conference's third playoff seed.

Bulls in the race for the conference's final playoff spot.

The Sixers must go 13-10 just to reach .500. Unless they close out the season

Meanwhile, the Sixers keep blowing games in the fourth quarter, which is when

easily be at least 36-29 with some better decisions and better coaching down
the stretch.

Samuel Dalembert, he of the $62 million contract, isn't happy about coming off

Webber continues to put up good numbers, but have a hard time guarding anybody.
That essentially applies to Kyle Korver, too.

Given all the factors, the Sixers would be better off not making the playoffs.

Remember, they own a first-round pick in June's draft, but traded their 2007
first-rounder away for Glenn Robinson (how did that work out?).

If the Sixers don't make the playoffs, they could pick as high as 12th. If they
do advance to the postseason, they could drop to 18th.

With plenty of holes in the Sixers' roster, the benefits of a higher-quality
rookie to next year's team and beyond outweigh what they'll get out of being
swept by the Pistons or perhaps winning one game against the Heat.

幫助。
