King confirms interest in bringing back Lynch

BOSTON - As it turns out, Willie Green hasn't been the only player on the 76ers
radar as a possible addition for the remainder of the season. Last month, they
made a preliminary call about George Lynch.

Agent Steve Kauffman confirmed the contact about Lynch, the 35-year-old
unrestricted free-agent forward who spent last season with the New Orleans
Hornets and has not played in the NBA this season. Sixers president/general
manager Billy King said in an e-mail response that the call was made "four
weeks ago."

It remains unclear whether the Sixers still have interest in Lynch, who has a
reputation as a hard-working defender. Kauffman identified New York and Indiana
as other teams that had called.

Lynch has logged 12 seasons in the league, including three with the Sixers,
from 1998-99 through 2000-01; he started 80 of 82 games in '00-01, averaging
8.4 points. He was with the Hornets the last three seasons, averaging 3.7
points and 4.0 rebounds in 44 games last season.

The Sixers also have been in discussions about Green with agents Aaron Goodwin

rehabbing from knee surgery. The Sixers could sign Green for the remainder of
the season and still retain his restricted rights.
