Lazio have finally come up with money to finalise the transfer of Mauro
Zarate from Al Sadd after the player spent a successful season on-loan at the
Stadio Olimpico.
The 22-year-old played a key role for Lazio this season, bagging 13 goals in
Serie A and also scoring during the team's victorious Coppa Italia run,
including a stunning goal in the final.
Sky Sport 24 report that the Aquilotti have paid €21 million to the Qatar
based club to complete the permanent transfer of the former Birmingham City
forward.
Although the club's official website have yet to confirm the news, Lazio
president Claudio Lotito, who has been confident of securing Zarate for some
time, announced the successful deal on the television program Roma Uno on
Monday.
Zarate is now expected to lead the Lazio frontline again next season, but may
have a new partner as the future of striker Goran Pandev has yet to be
determined.
