[新聞] Giants sign 3B McPherson
Just found out the Giants have signed power-hitting third baseman Dallas McPher
son to a minor-league contract. McPherson, once a top Angels prospect, hit 42
homers for Florida's high-altitude AAA team in Albuquerque. I assume he's going
to Fresno. The Marlins recently released him.
UPDATE: I just talked to Bobby Evans, who said McPherson, 28, will go to extend
ed spring training in Arizona for a while because he has not played in about 10
days. Then he'll go to Fresno, where he will not crack the starting lineup, at
least initially.
Ryan Rohlinger is the everyday third baseman and Jesus Guzman the first baseman.
A lot of fans have harped on the Giants trying to get McPherson, even two winte
rs ago when the Angels let him go. The Giants did talk to McPherson then, but
he had his heart set on Florida.
"There's always a hope in our minds than anyone in our minor-league system has
an upside," Evans said when asked about McPherson's potential. "It's hard to
argue with his bat."
McPherson's rise in Anaheim was slowed by back surgery.
幾個重點:1.巨人簽下McPherson，避免他成為下一個Petagine或是亞力士。
2.McPherson將會去參加延長春訓，之後轉往3A，因為他已經十天沒上場了。
3.McPherson曾經是天使的頂級新秀，但在天使時期因為背傷所困一直沒打出應
有的身手，事實上他今年春訓在搶位置的關鍵時刻也因傷缺賽數場，導致馬林
魚在沒有充分的資訊下，最後只為了區區55萬美金就把他釋出，健康真的很重
要。
4.巨人哈 McPherson很久了，其實在2007年的冬天他們就曾經爭取過他，只是
McPherson當初比較中意馬林魚，而這次巨人終於成功爭取到了他的加盟。
Evans非常的讚賞他的打擊天份。
5.McPherson在3A要慢慢進入比賽狀況，至少在剛入隊時他將不會是先發球員。
