#20 Orlando Calixte http://ppt.cc/Se8A Another international shortstop cracked Baseball America's top 31 prospects for the Kansas City Royals heading into the 2012 season. That shortstop was Orlando Calixte, and he came in at number 20. He is currently ranked 14th in the Royals system by MLB.com. BA believes he may outgrow the shortstop position, but he has a strong arm. He struggled immensely at the plate with a push to Low-A in 2011 (just .208), so he returned there to start the 2012 season. Despite showing homerun power (he hit ten in 62 games), he still struggled (.241). Injuries in the upper levels of the middle infield moved everyone up, so Calixte was promoted to High-A Wilmington. He more than held his own once promoted to the Blue Rocks and impressed manager Vance Wilson with his bat, despite being just 20-years old: Calixte's a free-swinger. Typically a young kid like that who's a free swinger, you get exposed even at this level. For him to be able to step up, he's such a big part of our team. A big part of our success. Not only am I proud of him, but very, very happy for him. He hit .281 with 17 doubles, but did strike out 65 times in 63 games in a pitcher's ballpark and league. However, strikeouts were a problem throughout the Blue Rocks lineup. The alarming part of Calixte's game is his defense. At shortstop in Kane County, he made 25 errors in 278 chances. After his promotion, in the same amount of chances, he made 21 errors. So that's 46 total errors. Sure, he gets to balls that others cannot and makes the flashy play, but it's the routine plays that give him trouble. He began the offseason by participating in instructional league and has since moved on to the Arizona Fall League. Calixte is a member of Surprise’s taxi squad, meaning he can only play on Wednesdays and Saturdays. He has played both third base and shortstop and has yet to make an error in three games (he has also hit). Hopefully Calixte can team up with the sure-handed Alex McClure and tighten up his defense. 總結:BA認為他在游擊位置體型長得過大即使他擁有強肩,另外他今年在高階1A這個偏向 投手的球場打的很好,最後,他的失誤過多,今年總共發生46次失誤(太多了吧!!!) ,一些很平凡的play會帶給他一些手備上的麻煩 #21 Clint Robinson http://ppt.cc/46ql First baseman/DH Clint Robinson came in at number 21 on Baseball America‘s annual Top Prospects listing for the Kansas City Royals heading into the 2012 season. The lefty was finally called up to the big leagues in June during Interleague Play. That was after 105 career minor league homeruns. Unfortunately, he only received four pinch-hit opportunities before being sent back to Triple-A Omaha. He was not recalled when rosters expanded in September or when Omaha’s playoff season ended. Robinson is known for his offense and two-strike approach, as he struck out just 65 times in 487 minor league at-bats this season. He walked 79 times. He did however have his worst batting average (.292) since his first full season in 2008 and his worst power numbers (just 13 homeruns) since 2009 in Wilmington (which is a pitcher’s ballpark). Robinson was a Triple-A All-Star once again (second year in a row and third straight season of making an All-Star team). Robinson is in a Billy Butler mold, as he made 13 errors in 102 games at first base this season. Not sure what the Royals are going to do with him, but he doesn’t have anything left to prove in the minors. Maybe they’ll use him as trade bait? #22 Will Smith http://ppt.cc/5QNp Left-hander Will Smith came in at number 22 when Baseball America ranked their Kansas City Royals top 31 prospects heading into the 2012 season. Due to his big league time this season, Smith no longer has prospect status. Smith was back-and-forth between Triple-A Omaha and the big leagues in May and June, but stuck in the Majors in about mid-July. He was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week after the first week of July. His final four starts for Omaha were dominant: a total of 27.2 innings, five runs allowed (four earned), five walks, and 29 strikeouts. He did not allow a homerun over those four starts. Smith had his ups-and-downs in the Majors, but had four starts of seven innings where he allowed two runs or less (three against playoff contenders). Smith has a two-seam fastball that he throws from 88-90 mph and a four-seam fastball that can hit 94 mph. He also has a big breaking ball and a changeup. He added a slider midway through the 2011 season to use against right-handed hitters. BA projects him to be a back-of-the-rotation starter (or at least a big league long reliever). Meanwhile in a recent Bob Dutton article for the Kansas City Star, one top official said: “Hopefully, Odorizzi and (Will) Smith and (Nate) Adcock are all pitching at Omaha when the season starts.” That means the Royals are hoping to spend money on the free agent market or make a big offseason trade for a front-line starter. Haven’t fans heard that before? However, as Dutton pointed out in his article: Perhaps Smith and Adcock are in the mix at that point [2014], too, but the Royals hope to have several other options. So really, Smith doesn’t seem to be in the Royals plans for the near future. Will they include him in one of those potential trades? At this point, Smith will head into the 2013 season with a chance to make the Royals change their minds about him. He needs to become more consistent from start-to-start. #23 Cameron Gallagher http://ppt.cc/W6u0 總結:最大的賣點是他的power和強肩,在跑者23次挑戰他的臂力機會中,他抓到了6次 速度慢,運動能力不太好(not real athletic不太懂怎麼翻!?),未來的價值會依 他能不能蹲捕手而決定 #24 Mike Antonio http://ppt.cc/ZcYi 總結:BA認為他會因為體型過大從游擊轉三壘是一件好事,但是,他的防守非常悲劇, 在233次的三壘守備機會中他發生了29次的失誤,擁有power的潛力但是也有被三振 多的潛力 #25 Jack Lopez http://ppt.cc/INIX #26 Everett Teaford http://ppt.cc/T_aS Coming in at number 26 on Baseball America‘s Top 31 Prospects for the Kansas City Royals heading into the 2012 season was left-handed pitcher Everett Teaford. For the second consecutive season, he bounced back-and-forth between the big leagues and Triple-A Omaha. However in 2012, he amassed enough innings to drop off the prospect list for the 2013 season (over 50 innings pitched). Teaford made the Opening Day roster for the Royals, but was sent back to Triple-A at the end of April. There, he made seven appearances (six starts). He was 4-0 with a 1.09 ERA over 33 innings and opponents hit just .207 against him. Teaford was called back up to the big leagues for good at the end of June. He wasn’t used a whole lot (he made just ten appearances over the final two months). He had a few bumps in the month of September, but also had a few good outings. On the first against Minnesota, he allowed just three hits over 5.1 scoreless innings of relief. In a start against Texas four days later, he allowed three runs over 4.1 innings (the runs came on a homerun in the first inning). He only allowed three hits while striking out five. Since being left unprotected for the 2009 Rule V draft, Teaford’s velocity has increased on his fastball. That has made his breaking ball and changeup even better. It doesn’t hurt that he throws from different arms slots. Against left-handed hitters in the minors he dominated (a .174 average and nine strikeouts in 14.1 innings). He struggled a bit with lefties in the majors. In 21.1 innings, lefties hit .300 against him. He only struck out ten compared to nine walks. That’s a ratio that will NEED to change for him to stick in the big leagues. BA gave him a low-risk factor in their rankings, meaning he has a certain big league future. Hopefully he can stick for a full season. #27 Brian Fletcher http://ppt.cc/LiWW #28 Danny Mateo http://ppt.cc/c9i~ #29 Humberto Arteaga http://ppt.cc/N5~K Baseball America ranked shortstop Humberto Arteaga as the Kansas City Royals 29th best prospect heading into the 2012 season. Arteaga signed for $1.1 million in 2010 and has been compared to fellow Latin shortstop Orlando Calixte (who signed the same year). However, Arteaga’s calling card is his defense. To advance up the organizational ladder, he will need to improve offensively. But at just 18 years old, he has time to develop. In his second season of rookie ball (this season he was in Burlington), he hit .274 with 13 doubles and 29 RBIs in 234 at-bats. The down-side was his strikeout to walk numbers (31 Ks to just nine walks). Arteaga made just nine errors in 255 chances while turning 30 double plays. #30 David Lough http://ppt.cc/Prhk Outfielder David Lough was ranked by Baseball America as the Kansas City Royals 30th prospect heading into the 2012 season. All the lefty has done since signing with the Royals is hit and 2012 was no different in his third season with Triple-A Omaha. His numbers weren’t as good as his last two seasons (.275 with ten homeruns, 11 triples, 69 runs scored, and 69 RBIs), but he did steal more bases (26). That performance FINALLY earned him his first big league callup in September. He made his debut on September 1st. He started three straight games and went 5-for-14 with four runs scored in those games. His first triple came against Minnesota on September 13th. The guys at BA ranked him with a low-risk factor, meaning he has a certain big league future barring injury. An injury has limited him during his debut so far, but hopefully he’ll be healthy heading into spring training. Centerfield is his for the taking with Jarrod Dyson and Lorenzo Cain being injury-prone and Jason Bourgeois having his defensive struggles. Lough can play all three outfield positions and could be a Mitch Maier-type candidate for the Royals in 2013. #31 Kyle Smith http://ppt.cc/zJ~l The Royals 31st prospect heading into the 2012 season was right-hander Kyle Smith. The 2011 fourth round pick signed late, meaning 2012 was his first professional season. When the Royals selected the high schooler, they considered him advanced, with an above-average fastball (88-92 mph) that he located well and a feel for a breaking ball (a hard slurve). He also had confidence in his developing changeup. BA believed Smith was advanced enough to appear at Low-A Kane County at some point in 2012, and that he did. After one start for Idaho Falls (where he struck out 11 and earned Pitcher of the Week honors), Smith made 13 starts for the Cougars. His first start for the Cougars earned him Midwest League Pitcher of the Week honors, as he threw six no-hit innings. His best start came on August 7th, when he threw seven shutout innings. He allowed just three hits while striking out 12. Overall, he was 5-3 with a 2.86 ERA over 72.1 innings. He struck out 98 compared to 21 walks. In Baseball America’s latest edition, Smith was named as the player to keep an eye on. Most likely, Smith will move up the Royals'prospect rankings heading into the 2013 season and should make his High-A debut in Wilmington at some point (if not to start the season). 無意間看到,內文有點多,只貼幾個,小妹翻的可能很爛,有錯誤的地方可以告訴小妹 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 114.26.25.162
