JVG與ESPN簽約5年
Missing Seattle
Monday’s game was the first for the Thunder in Oklahoma City since the move
from Seattle during the summer, but those with ties to the Sonics quickly
learned it was a reminder of something lost in the Emerald City more than
something that was gained in Oklahoma.
“I’m in the same boat as the current players and former players like Jack
Sikma and Nate McMillan and all those guys who feel sad there is no team
(in Seattle,)” said Rockets guard Brent Barry, who played five seasons
in Seattle. “It’s a little bit depressing, like the Seattle weather for
most people, but not the locals.
“It’s depressing that there is no trip to Seattle this year and there is
no team in that city. There is a great history and they certainly had some
great players there. And now, there is no team left. It’s sad.”
Van Gundy signs TV deal
Former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy signed a five-year contract with ESPN
on Monday, a development greeted with approval by at least one of his former
players.
“That’s good for me,” Yao Ming said. “Not as many people will know how
to defend me.
Yao said he is a fan of Van Gundy’s mix of analysis and humor, though the
humor is different from when Van Gundy was Rockets coach.
“There are two crews on TV: Charles Barkley with Kenny Smith and Jeff with
Mark Jackson. Totally different,” Yao said.
