Beyonce may have a lot of fans, but Etta James isn't one of them. The veteran
singer lashed out at Bey during a performance that she did recently saying
that she can't stand her. In audio that has leaked onto the internet, Etta
James makes it clear that she is not happy with Beyonce's decision to perform
her song "At Last" for the inauguration.
"She had no business being up there singing, on...president's day, singing my
song, that I've been singing forever," James says as an introduction before
she sings her song.
Beyonce played Etta James in the film Cadillac Records, which was released
this year. She took her role a step further when she was asked to perform at
the Inaugural Ball by singing the Etta James classic "At Last," for President
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's first dance.
Last week (Jan. 28), Etta James performed at Seattle's Paramount Theatre and
blasted Beyonce for doing her song. In her rant, she also went on to attack
the president. "Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he
ain't my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing
my song--she's going to get her a** whipped."
