Papelbon has fatigued shoulder
After rest, closer will begin strengthening program

BOSTON -- The Red Sox announced the results of the MRI on closer Jonathan
Papelbon's right shoulder, and the findings were consistent with what the club
believed: Papelbon has a fatigued shoulder.

The diagnosis, according to a statement released by Red Sox medical director
Dr. Thomas Gill, is that Papelbon has "transient subluxation in the setting of
a fatigued shoulder."

Papelbon will have a period of rest, and then start a shoulder strengthening

The rookie closer has been an indispensable member of Boston's bullpen this

"Papelbon continues to improve each day," said Gill.
