ST. PETERSBURG -- Given the fact that the Rays are expected to lose a number of players to free agency during the coming offseason, the 2011 team should have a different look, but the players who remain should allow the Rays to again be a contender. 有鑑於光芒在休賽期間預料到因自由球員因素而失去一些選手的事實，球隊在2011年會有不一樣的外觀，但是應留下哪些選手能使光芒再次成為有競爭力的球隊。 Free agents Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena and Rafael Soriano are all expected to go elsewhere, which means the Rays will need to find a left fielder, first baseman and closer. Ruggiano has been a consistent performer at Durham but has never been given much of a chance at the Major League level. Davis and Niemann both did quality work in 2010, and Hellickson showed he's ready to make the jump to the Major Leagues. Though the Rays clearly might trade one of their arms, it likely won't happen until they see how healthy they are by the end of Spring Training. To a certain extent, the Rays could plug some gaps from within if Howell returns healthy after missing 2010 because of shoulder surgery and McGee shows as well as he has early on.
